David Singer was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and has maintained strong ties to South Florida throughout his life. He attended Coral Reef Elementary School, Palmetto Middle School, and Miami Palmetto Senior High School before continuing his education at the university level.
His upbringing helped shape a strong appreciation for hard work, perseverance, and community. Among his most important influences were his parents and the experiences of his family, including growing up as the son of a Holocaust survivor.
David graduated from Florida State University in 1985 and continued his education at the University of Miami, graduating in 1987. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant in Florida, establishing a financial and accounting foundation that would play an important role throughout his career.
In addition to his CPA credentials, David holds a Florida real estate license and previously held a Florida mortgage broker license. This combination of accounting, finance, and real estate knowledge has allowed him to approach projects from both an operational and financial perspective.
David began his professional career with Kenneth Leventhal, working as an auditor and tax accountant. The experience provided a foundation in accounting, financial analysis, and the business considerations surrounding real estate.
He later joined Berkowitz Development Group, where he spent 25 years and held increasingly significant leadership responsibilities as CFO, COO, and CEO. His work encompassed finance, operations, management, real estate development, leasing, and construction, giving him extensive experience across the business and operational sides of the real estate industry.
Over the course of his executive career, David developed an understanding of how financial strategy, property operations, construction, and management must work together to move projects forward.
Today, David is self-employed as the owner of Singer Real Estate Consulting. Through the firm, he works across several areas of the real estate industry, including leasing, construction management, property management, and general real estate consulting.
His consulting work draws on decades of experience in accounting, executive leadership, development, and property operations. Rather than viewing real estate solely from a financial or construction perspective, David brings together the different disciplines involved in managing properties and making informed business decisions.
David’s connection to South Florida also extends into public service. As a Councilmember for the Village of Palmetto Bay, he has brought his experience in finance, management, accounting, real estate, and business leadership into the civic arena.
His involvement in local government reflects a broader interest in the decisions that shape the community, from financial management and development to the long-term direction of Palmetto Bay.
Outside of real estate and public service, music is an important part of David’s life. He is a singer in Almost There, a Miami-based rock and roll band. Performing gives him a creative outlet distinct from the worlds of accounting, real estate, and government.
David also enjoys boating, traveling, music, and education. Together, these interests reflect the range of experiences that have defined his life: a career built around finance and real estate, a connection to public service, deep roots in the Miami area, and an enduring enthusiasm for music and learning.
